"I am no longer a slave to sin, but rather I have chosen to be a bond servant to righteousness."

                                                                                                                                         Romans 6:18

I had wanted a tattoo many years before it became all the rage. There were 3 things that prohibited me from getting one. One was the cost. If you don't know a tatt costs around $100.00 an hour. To translate: That's a lot!

Number two was that I had heard that getting a tatt was rather painful (just as we were getting started my artist told me that if the pain was too much or felt like throwing up we would need to take a break. If I actually threw up we would also need to stop, but for a longer period of time, maybe schedule another time. The last would be if I passed out we would REALLY need to stop. I was thinking to myself as to what I had I gotten myself into! None of the above mentioned happened.) The last thing was that If I ever got one I would want it completely unique to me and would serve as a possible witness.

So years went by. One day I was in a bookstore and saw the cover to a devotional book.

This got my to thinking it would be a cool idea for a tatt. Again, it wouldn't be this as it was not unique. But it gave me something to think about. I had a rough idea, but being that I am not an artist by any stretch I would need to enlist someone who was. And as it happened I knew a very talented artist. (Smile here)

Carin Barnes was the wife of my best friend Steve, and the Barnes family was our best friends. Carin had been battling a rare form of breast cancer, but at this time she was in a sort of remission. So I asked her for her help in my tatt project. She said yes and put our minds together and eventually came up with a design both of us liked.
